Responsibilities:
- Surface Preparation:
Clean and prepare surfaces for plastering, which includes applying bonding agents to ensure smooth adhesion.
Inspect walls, ceilings, and other surfaces to identify defects that need repairing before plastering.
Patch up holes, cracks, and imperfections in walls or ceilings.
- Plaster Mixing and Application:
Mix plastering materials (such as cement, sand, and additives) to the right consistency.
Apply plaster, render, or stucco to various surfaces using hand tools like trowels, or mechanical sprayers.
Ensure the plastering is smooth, level, and evenly applied.
- Surface Finishing:
Finish the plastered surface by applying finishing coats and smoothing out any bumps or imperfections.
Sand, polish, or apply coatings to achieve the required surface texture.
Create specific textures for decorative finishes
- Repairs and Restoration:
Perform plaster repair work for damaged or weathered surfaces.
Restore and maintain existing plasterwork, including restoration of decorative plaster moldings.
- Health and Safety:
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards on the worksite.
Use appropriate protective gear, such as gloves, goggles, and masks, to protect from dust and chemicals.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Quality Control and Inspection:
Ensure that plaster work is done to the required quality and standards, performing regular checks for consistency and durability.
Verify that the plasterwork is free from defects like cracks or uneven surfaces.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
Work closely with other construction professionals, including painters, electricians, and general contractors.
Communicate with supervisors to report progress and address any concerns or delays.
- Tool and Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain plastering tools and equipment in good working condition.
Ensure proper storage and handling of plastering materials.
Skills & Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience as a plasterer or in a related field is preferred, particularly in construction or renovation projects.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with various plastering techniques, materials, and safety standards.
- Physical Fitness: The role often involves physical labor, including lifting heavy materials, standing for long periods, and working in uncomfortable positions.
- Attention to Detail: The ability to achieve smooth, even surfaces is essential.
- Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines on construction projects.
