Join us as a Political Violence, Class Underwriter to make more of your specialist expertise and experience, in our market leading team.


With offices in the U.S., London and Asia Pacific, Talbot is the managing agent of Syndicate 1183 at Lloyd’s.

Syndicate 1183 underwrites a number of classes of business including war and terrorism, energy, marine, financial lines, cyber, transport, political risk, crisis management, kidnap & ransom, contingency, property and treaty reinsurance.

Through its expert team of underwriters and a balanced, geographically-diverse portfolio of business, Talbot has earned a reputation as an industry-leading insurance and reinsurance specialist.


How you will create an impact

+ U nderwrite risks in accordance with Talbot’s underwriting philosophy and within own authority limits.



+ A ssist Head of Political Violence, Asia Pacific, in b roker/client business development with a focus on expanding existing broker/client relationships.



+ D eliver technical Political Violence underwriting and high levels of service to our key clients/brokers.



+ A rticulate our Political Violence underwriting appetite, product suite, and value proposition .



+ Ensure that Political Violence business is conducted, processed and administered in accordance with the prevailing applicable policies, procedures and agreed service levels.



+ Ensure that premium entries in Subscribe are reviewed and accurately maintained in accordance with applicable procedures.



+ A ct in accordance with all regulatory standards and principles at all times

+ Provide information and assistance as needed to ensure that other syndicate staff can carry out their responsibilities.



+ Make every reasonable effort to increase own knowledge, skills and expertise in order to: (i) Further personal development within the Class Underwriter role; (ii) Reach a position where promotion to a more senior role is feasible.




What you’ll need to succeed

+ Proven experience of Lloyd’s / Company market in Underwriting / Broking.

+ Able to operate independently with little direction or guidance.

Self-reliance, use of initiative- a ‘self-starter’.

+ Able to prioritize

+ Strong team working approach.

+ Strong analytical skills

+ Verbal, written and professional presence and ability to communicate at all levels with excellent negotiation skills

+ Strong communication/ interpersonal skills including:

+ Strong documentation skills

+ Excellent communications skills

+ Ability to summarize

+ Ability to understand problems and issues quickly

+ Assertive

+ Positive and ‘can do’ approach

+ Calm, rational and methodical approach
