Overview
Power Services Controller (PSCO)
works closely with the Chief Controller (CC) in the Operation Control Centre (OCC) to monitor and control via the SCS system for Electrical Power System (22kV AC, 415V AC & 750V DC) and the Environmental Control System (Air Conditioning and Tunnel Ventilation Systems).
PSCO also monitors and controls via additional SCADA and iFIS system for power equipment’s Condition Monitoring and touch voltage protection monitoring and control respectively.
PSCO is a key player to restore any power tripping and to facilitate a safe passage for passenger evacuation during any emergency to provide safe and reliable train service to our commuters.
Responsibilities
The PSCO position will be deployed to either NSEWL or Circle Line with the following duties and responsibilities.
Work closely with CC instruction(s) and adhere to all safety requirements pertaining to all traction on/off operations.
Follow the Permit-to-Work (PTW) Procedures and switching communication with front-line maintenance staff in relation to safe switching / isolation / re-energization for preventive maintenance work.
Follow all safety requirements and work instructions under SMRT LEW instruction / supervision for all 22kV remote switching.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
Facilitate Power and ECS engineering work activities at night and carry out preparatory works for Train revenue services in the morning.
Monitor closely all alarms and tripping/fault occurrences with prompt coordination with the front-line maintenance staff to follow up.
Respond to any tripping/emergency with priority to remote isolation and safe power restoration according to safety requirements under SMRT LEW instruction / supervision and consent from CC within stipulated KPI.
Carry out Emergency Mode remote switching of Tunnel Ventilation System according to Work Instructions (WI) in the event of fire & evacuation situation.
Ancillary Support
Perform system function tests / OCC Exercises / Project Testing & Commissioning
Assist in the review of WIs and operation procedures periodically.
Participate in constructive and improvement work via Kaizen projects.
Perform any other tasks or functions ancillary or additional to the assigned work.
Physical Requirements
Able to multi-task with good command and control.
Able to stay calm under stress (copes well with OCC environment).
Able to work on a Shift Roster system in accordance with MOM guidelines and Collective Agreement.
Qualifications & Work Experience
Qualifications and work experience include:
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering.
Technician Electrical License (LEW Grade 8) would be an added advantage.
Preferably with 2 or more years of electrical working experience.
Skills
Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
Good Electrical Engineering knowledge (proficient with single-line diagram).
Basic knowledge of SCADA.
Generic Skills
Critical problem-solving and good analytical skills.
Good interpersonal and communication skills within and outside of the team.
Good time-management skill (good time discipline).
