Key Responsibilities
Independently manage and execute structural design activities to meet Class and technical specification requirements within the designated project schedule.
Lead structural design deliverables for assigned projects, ensuring timely and accurate submission of drawings and documents in accordance with project plans.
Review external designers’ pre-contract technical specifications, general arrangements, and drawing lists to ensure design accuracy and compliance.
Liaise with vessel owners and Classification Societies to verify, review, and obtain approval for specific design requirements.
Conduct structural and rudder calculations, and develop optimized arrangement and detailed structural concepts for assigned projects.
Prepare technical specifications for sourcing of fittings and materials related to structural components, including special materials and rudder construction.
Review and verify drawings, calculations, and documentation produced by project team members prior to submission.
Collaborate closely with detailed and production designers, ensuring alignment of design intent and quality output.
Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting assistance to production teams as needed.
Experience in performing finite element (FE) analysis using FEMAP is an advantage.
Requirements
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in structural engineering design within the marine or offshore newbuilding industry.
Degree or Diploma in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, AVEVA, and preferably FEMAP software.
Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills with the ability to lead projects and ensure compliance with technical and Class standards.
