The Principal Solution Architect (PSA) reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and is part of the Technology Office (TO).

The PSA leads product architecture design and standardization efforts to drive scalability and cost efficiency of proposed technology stacks in the long run.

The PSA also provides guidance to software delivery team leads where relevant, to ensure the effective delivery of the proposed solutions.

Define Standards and Practices

• Lead development of software architecture standards, technologies and practices aligned with company’s vision and business strategy.
  
  
• Monitor trends in technology related to Architecture standards, technologies and practices for potential incorporation to maximize value add.
  
  
• Adopt modern development methodologies and frameworks (including Agile) when developing Architecture/Engineering standards and practices.
  
  
• Assist CTO to review defined practices and their implementation and monitoring including DevOps tools, workflows, data & metrics.
  
  

Engineering and Delivery

• Lead the design (architecture and features) of repeatable modules / components in consideration of the larger ecosystem of software and infrastructure architectures.
  
  
• Provide technical guidance (e.g. troubleshooting, changes to architecture, considerations for data & systems integrations, etc.) to product delivery team leads to ensure delivery timelines are achieved.
  
  
• Continuously keep up to date with new technologies and propose their incorporation into product roadmaps where relevant.
  
  

Infrastructure and IT Operations

• Support CTO in management of IT Infrastructure for development and test including resource planning as well as review of IT infrastructure architecture.
  
  

Innovation and R&D

• Work with CTO to identify R&D initiatives to explore and implement cutting-edge technologies.
  
  
• Work with CTO and CPO to operationalise R&D projects.
  
  
• Experiment and evaluate new ideas/tools/partners.
  
  

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with other TO Architects and Leads
• Collaborate with the customer leads to align Architecture standards, technologies and practices with customer needs.
  
  
• Engage with users, partners, and other stakeholders.
  
  

Risk Management and Security

• Work with CTO to identify standards and regulatory requirements to be complied with.
  
  
• Incorporate security considerations into architecture and practices.
  
  

Competency Development

• Work with CTO to Define and Manage technical competency roadmap/plan for the organisation

Qualities We Value

• Experience in development of solution architectures for secure mission critical IT systems.
  
  
• Experience in cloud-based (public or private) architectures, technologies and services.
  
  
• Experience in application of modern engineering processes and practices (Agile, DevOps).
  
  
• Understanding of emerging technologies related to solutions and engineering (AI, cloud services, DevOps tools).
  
  
• Familiar with customer/GOV standards and preferences.
  
  
• Experience with multiple aspects of the overall solution including performance, security, latency and other relevant aspects for a solution.
  
  
• Familiar with concepts, techniques and tools for blueprint design and development.
  
  
• Familiar with best practices and methodologies in enterprise architecture development.
  
  
• Understanding of security threats and vulnerabilities as well as key components of security system blueprint that are used as security mitigation controls.
  
  
• Able to think strategically, communicate effectively to convey technical concepts.
  
  
• Strong problem solving and collaboration skills.
