Position Summary
The Process Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
This role involves analyzing current processes, identifying areas for improvement, and developing cost-effective solutions to improve overall process performance.
The Process Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of process changes and to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes or process enhancements to optimize production operations.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to assess proposed process changes or investments in new equipment or technologies.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flowcharts, to ensure consistent process execution.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure process changes meet product specifications and quality standards.
- Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting to address process-related issues or deviations from quality targets.
- Utilize statistical methods and data analysis tools to monitor process performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional project teams to execute process improvement projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
- Provide technical support and training to production personnel on new or modified processes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, including ISO9001, IATF16949, ISO14001, and ISO13485.
- Maintain and update all process, quality, and system documentation to meet approved regulatory requirements.
- Ensure Production Process Specifications are accurate and trigger updates to control plans when required.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Undertake ad-hoc duties as assigned by superiors or management.
Education:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
Professional Qualifications:
- Certified Internal Auditor for IATF16949, ISO9001, or related Quality Management Systems (preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in stamping and tool/die manufacturing.
- Proven track record in process improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, material selection, and quality management systems.
Technical Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of stamping processes, die design, and process optimization techniques.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools for process control and improvement.
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment evaluation and technology implementation.
