Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate construction activities to meet timelines and budgets.
- Plan and oversee sea trials, inclining experiments, and stability assessments.
- Prepare cost-benefit analyses and forecast financial performance.
- Monitor daily construction activities, progress, and workforce allocation; project budgets; track expenditures; and control cost overruns.
- Oversee design, procurement, construction, installation, site works, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and design standards and commissioning phases.
- Ensure all designs meet industry standards (API, ASME, ISO, OSHA, EPA, ATEX, etc.) and client specifications.
- Ensure compliance with marine codes and standards (IMO, SOLAS, DNV, ABS, BV).
- Ensure testing of concrete, steel, soil, and other construction materials.
- Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with codes (e.g., ACI, ASTM, IS codes).
- Develop detailed project execution plans (PEPs) and track milestones.
- Review P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
- Interpret architectural, structural, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) drawings.
- Coordinate FEED (Front End Engineering Design) and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) phases.
- Coordinate FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests), SAT (Site Acceptance Tests), and pre-commissioning.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities.
- Manage interface with subcontractors, OEMs, and third-party inspectors.
- Manage integration and testing of propulsion, ballast, and navigation systems.
- Maintain records, including datasheets, calculation notes, and as-built drawings.
- Maintain daily progress reports, material submittals, and inspection records.
- Monitor fabrication, welding, outfitting, and testing of marine systems.
- Monitor work progress in shipyards or offshore yards (modules, superstructures, etc.).
- Review technical documents and test results from suppliers.
- Review and coordinate marine engineering designs (hull, propulsion, piping, HVAC).
- Troubleshoot technical issues during commissioning and start-up phases.
- Support process simulations, equipment selection, and material/energy balance calculations.
- Specify marine-grade materials and systems suitable for harsh environments.
- Work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and compliance with design specs.
- Evaluate subcontractor performance, resolve on-site issues, and manage RFIs (Requests for Information).
- Enforce safety protocols on-site and closely work with site supervisors.
- Assist in safety audits and incident investigations.
- Provide updates to the Project Manager and ensure accurate record-keeping.
Competency Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Mechatronic/Mechanical Engineering
- At least 3 years of working experience in the related field
- Familiarity with semi-conductor/construction industry
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of QA/QC procedure (PQR/WPS) will be an added advantage
- Multi-tasking team player with excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Attended QEHS related awareness training
