About the role:
We are delivering a fit-out project to convert a commercial space into a lab facility for a multinational manufacturer.
As Project Engineer, you will coordinate Civil and Electrical works during the design and execution of this specialised laboratory environment.
This includes infrastructure upgrades, utilities, laboratory M&E systems, and compliance with Singapore regulations for research facilities.
Key responsibilities
Provide technical leadership for Civil and Electrical engineering during office-to-lab fit-out.Oversee demolition, partitioning, structural alterations, flooring, ceiling, HVAC integration and laboratory utilities (power, water, drainage, compressed air, fume extraction).Review electrical drawings (power, lighting, earthing, fire alarm, data/communications) to ensure integration with lab systems and safety codes.Coordinate with architects, lab planners, MEP consultants, contractors and client stakeholders.Manage RFIs, method statements, permits to work and safety compliance.Ensure alignment with Singapore BCA, SCDF and EMA requirements (building, fire safety, electrical licensing).Support procurement of specialist lab fit-out equipment and monitor contractor installation quality.Assist commissioning and testing of laboratory systems — power, HVAC, fume hoods, safety systems.Maintain accurate project documentation and technical reporting. Experience & skills (must-haves)
Degree in Civil, Structural or Electrical Engineering.5–10+ years’ project engineering experience, with mandatory experience in fit-out projects converting offices or commercial spaces into laboratories, R&D facilities, or cleanrooms.Demonstrated coordination across disciplines in confined commercial/lab environments.Knowledge of Singapore building codes, fire safety standards (SCDF), electrical licensing (EMA) and lab safety requirements.Strong contractor/vendor coordination and technical issue resolution.Excellent English communication; ability to manage diverse stakeholder groups. Experience in the flavours, fragrance, food ingredients, pharma or life sciences sectors.Knowledge of cleanroom classifications (ISO 14644, GMP) and lab ventilation requirements.PMP or PE certification in Singapore.
