The SLim Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Officer to support research in cyanobacterial protein expression of plastic-degrading enzymes.
The role will contribute to the development of novel biotechnological platforms for sustainable enzyme production, creating innovative solutions for environmental and industrial challenges.
The Research Associate will be an individual contributor to a multi-disciplinary project involving bioengineering, chemical engineering and materials science.
Key Responsibilities:
- Upstream and downstream process of production of biomolecules in cyanobacterial strains, such as designing the constructs, engineering the microbes to assess enzymatic activity and evaluate the potential for large-scale production.
- Executing experiments to achieve the specific aims of the project.
- Presenting results in various meetings/forums.
- Preparing reports for submission to the funding agency.
- Liaising with other scientists in the team as well as in other groups to develop the required expertise.
- Advising final year project and/or interns in the project.
Job Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience in recombinant DNA technology, cloning, and microbial expression systems.
- Working knowledge in protein purification using AKTA FPLC and basic protein analytics.
- Good communication skills in both verbal and written forms
- Take initiatives and lead a project and ensure delivery of outcomes in a timely manner
- Team player who will take part in general lab activities
- Familiarity with cyanobacteria, photosynthetic microbes is preferred.
- Able to design and execute experiments with minimal instructions
