Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Network Infrastructure Engineer with 2–5 years of experience to support SpeQtral's Quantum Network programmes.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network infrastructures.
This hybrid role spans both network security engineering and infrastructure/system implementation, ideal for candidates who enjoy working across networking, servers, and cloud environments.
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and reliable quantum network.
Key Responsibilities
Quantum Programme Support:
- Understand customers' technical requirements to provide technical support for fibre QKD network deployment between sites.
- To be able to implement the QKD infrastructure network design, which includes server provisioning, configuring virtualised environments (e.g. using Proxmox), network configuration as well as installation and configuration of fibre QKD systems
- Conduct preventive maintenance and checks to QKD systems
- Investigate first line support calls assigned and identify the root cause of incidents and problems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network connectivity issues for projects that had been set up.
- Liaise with customers and principal on escalated incidents
- Ensure the efficient and comprehensive resolution of incidents and requests.
- Provide training to end users on QKD network operations
Network and Security Engineering:
- Design, configure, and manage switches, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS systems, and other security tools
- Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with best practices.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and remediation activities
- Maintain accurate documentation of network designs, configurations and policies.
Infrastructure Engineering:
- Managing company networking, servers and IT hardware
- Administer and secure cloud and SaaS platforms (AWS, Microsoft 365)
- Support and configure virtualised environments (e.g. Proxmox)
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- 2 to 5 years in network security, IT security, or a related field.
Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
Education:
- Dip/Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience).
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and core networking protocols.
Proficiency with switches, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS solutions.
Familiarity with virtualization using Proxmox hypervisors or other type of related solutions
- Exposure to scripting languages (Python, Bash, Powershell)
- (Good to have) Experience with vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, OpenVAS) and penetration testing methodologies.
- (Good to have) Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards.
Certifications:
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Security+, CEH, or equivalent.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proactive and responsive on assigned tasks and incidents follow-up
- Team player and can work independently under minimum supervision
Good to have experiences
· Experience with Grafana or other monitoring/visualization tools.
· Knowledge of cloud security best practices.
· Prior exposure to quantum communications or advanced networking research.
· Willingness to be on scheduled standby for field service/maintenance.
