Role Summary
The R&D Manager will lead applied research and validation of water quality parameters at site/source using advanced sensing techniques such as electrochemistry, optical/photonics, XRF etc.
This role combines scientific rigor with hands-on experimentation to translate lab innovations into deployable field solutions across sectors like drinking water, wastewater, aquaculture, and industrial effluents.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute R&D programs on electrochemical, optical, and XRF-based water quality detection.
- Design and validate analytical methods for parameters such as heavy metals, nitrates, COD, DO, turbidity, PFAS, and others.
- Plan and conduct at-site/source testing, data collection, calibration, and performance benchmarking of sensors and analyzers.
- Collaborate closely with the Product Engineering and AI Analytics teams to convert test outcomes into deployable algorithms and device enhancements.
- Manage lab and field trials, including reagent development, sampling protocols, and statistical data interpretation.
- Supervise a small technical team and coordinate with external research institutions, certification agencies, and partners.
- Document experimental results and contribute to technical papers, patent filings, and regulatory submissions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors, Master's or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or Physics.
- 4-5 years of R&D experience in sensor development, water quality testing, or analytical instrumentation.
- Proven expertise in one or more domains: electrochemical sensing, photometric/optical spectroscopy, or XRF techniques.
- Experience in field validation and calibration of instruments preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills; ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
