What you'll be doing
- Design and develop exoskeleton robotic systems and components to meet project requirements
- Conduct detailed analyses, simulations, and testing to optimise robotic performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate robotic solutions into larger engineering projects
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with robotic systems
- Document design processes and maintain comprehensive technical records
- Prototype Development: Experience with rapid prototyping, failure analysis, and iterative testing using advanced manufacturing (additive, composites, soft goods).
- Human Subject Testing: Familiarity with ethical protocols, biomechanical sensing equipment (EMG, motion capture), and usability trials involving human participants.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in robotics and mechanical engineering
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in robotic design and lightweight development
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD and experience with prototype fabrication (machining, 3D printing).
- Electrical/Electronics: Understanding of sensors, actuators, embedded systems, circuit design, and integration with hardware platforms.
- Software Engineering: Proficiency in embedded programming (C/C++), scripting (Python), real-time control for robotics, and experience with AI/ML for adaptive systems and data analytics.
- Biomedical Engineering: Knowledge of human biomechanics, physiology, and experience designing around patient safety and comfort.
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, actuators, sensors, and control system
- Regulatory, Clinical, and Industry Knowledge: MedTech Regulatory Standards: Understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 13485), risk management (ISO 14971), and FDA/CE certification pathways for medical devices.
- Clinical Collaboration: Ability to work with clinicians, therapists, and patients to address real-world rehabilitation challenges.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Education: Usually minimum B.S./B.Eng.
in Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, or Biomedical Engineering; advanced degrees (M.S., Ph.D.) open doors to leadership and deep research roles.
