Our highly successful water business in Southeast Asia has been shaped over the years by SMEC, one of the key members of the SJ Group.

Across the Southeast Asia region, we continue to operate through a number of our SJ Group companies, including Surbana Jurong in Singapore, and SMEC across the remainder of Southeast Asia.

The Role

We are currently seeking a Regional Director, Water to lead this key growth sector across Southeast Asia , ideally based out of Singapore.

As the Regional Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic landscape by overseeing the day-to-day operations and steering the direction of the water sub-sector (which encompasses water infrastructure, water resources and irrigation).

Your responsibilities extend to leading the strategic direction and growth of the Southeast Asian water business, ensuring the highest standards of operational and technical excellence, taking full accountability of profit and loss management, and championing the development and mobilisation of resources within Southeast Asia.

Beyond these core functions, your leadership is instrumental in cultivating strong client relationships, contributing to the overall growth and success of SJ Group.

As an ideal candidate, you will have:

  • 15+ years in the water industry with proven success in Senior Management roles.

  • Expertise in managing large-scale water projects, client relationships, and multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline; postgraduate and project management qualifications highly regarded.

  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards, legislation, and market trends across Southeast Asia.

  • Sound commercial understanding including previous P&L management.

  • High level communication skills, including negotiating and resolving highly complex commercial, technical and people matters.
