Overview

The Regional Logistics Assistant Manager (Asia Pacific) is responsible for overseeing and optimizing trade and customs operations across the region, ensuring compliance with international regulations and maximizing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) savings.

This role acts as a subject matter expert in trade and customs, supports cross-border projects, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to drive cost and process efficiencies.

The Assistant Manager also manages regulatory operations for Singapore, maintains up-to-date knowledge of import/export policies, and supports the Regional Logistics Manager in strategic initiatives, reporting, and automation efforts.

Job Description

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for trade and customs regulatory interpretation and development.

  • Ensure realization of FTA savings and drive cross-border cost-saving initiatives through FTA optimization projects within Asia Pacific, collaborating across functions.

  • Provide support for FTA and trade controls issues raised by business and operations.

  • Contribute to and ensure regional alignment with the global trade administration team in areas such as trade controls, customs management, HS classification, and cross-border optimization, including FTA savings.

  • Monitor changes in trade policies and tariffs to prevent penalties and operational delays.

  • Gather and update import and export regulations regularly.

  • Maintain strong partnerships with local export/import operation leads and logistics service providers across the region.

  • Manage customs and regulatory operations for Singapore, including import permit applications, NEA packaging, and SDS registration.

  • Create, manage, and visualize the FTA Matrix Sheet; prepare monthly logistics performance reports.

  • Support the Regional Logistics Manager on regional projects focused on cost and process optimization, automation, and data visualization.

  • Assist the Regional Logistics Manager with regional projects related to cost and process optimization, automation, and visualization.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve trade processes.

  • Other day-to-day operational tasks include approving new PR/PO requests and update selling prices in SAP for Singapore-related business activities and other ad hoc tasks as required.

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university.

  • At least 5 years of experience in import/export compliance and international trade (FTA) at a regional level.

  • Experience in the chemical industry and with governmental enforcement authorities is an advantage.

  • Customs Brokerage license highly advantageous.

  • Familiarity with APAC regional regulations on global trade.

  • Proven experience in developing and managing trade compliance programs.

  • Excellent knowledge of import/export laws and regulations, including HTS and customs regulations.

  • Proficient in SAP, Excel, and data visualization tools.

  • Proactive, collaborative, detail-oriented, and results-driven with strong analytical skills.
