The
National University of Singapore
invites applications for the position of
Research Assistant
in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, for the project “Brain Connectivity in Learning Difficulties (BRACO-LD).” The appointment will initially be on a
2-year
contract, with a possibility of extension.


Job Overview
We seek a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant (RA) to support all phases of our brain imaging studies, including participant recruitment, data collection, analysis, and dissemination.

The position involves hands-on experience with MRI acquisition, neuroimaging processing, and behavioral assessments in pediatric cohorts.


Key Responsibilities
Conduct literature reviews to support grant writing and manuscript preparation.


Participant Recruitment & Engagement:
Identify and screen potential participants, obtain informed consent, explain procedures, and maintain rapport.


Data Acquisition & Quality Assurance:
Prepare participants for MRI scans, administer behavioral assessments, and ensure data quality.


Data Management & Entry:
Enter data into secure databases, organize and archive neuroimaging files, and perform backups.


Image Processing & Preliminary Analysis:
Assist with preprocessing pipelines, extract imaging metrics, and perform basic statistical analyses.


Regulatory & Administrative Support:
Prepare ethics submissions, track compliance, and complete required training.


Team Collaboration & Communication:
Collaborate with team members and contribute to scientific dissemination.


Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.


Prior exposure to neuroimaging or developmental research preferred but not mandatory.


Technical Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data-entry platforms (e.g., REDCap).


Willingness to learn neuroimaging software (e.g., FSL, SPM).


Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or R.


Experience with shell scripting is a plus but not required.


Other Requirements
Willingness to undergo MRI safety training and background checks.


Flexibility for occasional weekend visits.
