RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position is for Centre for Research on Successful Ageing (ROSA).
- Research and Publications
- Assist with data analysis, survey design and research support for research briefs and academic journals.
- Contribution to research collaborations with government ministries and agencies.
- Publication of academic papers (co-authoring alongside researchers in economics / sociology / psychology/ data science).
- Planning, Development and Management of Panel Methodological Research Agenda
- Work closely with the Research Fellows, Research Panel Manager and the research teamin monitoring and evaluating current panel practices for the Singapore Life Panel.
- Ongoing analysis after each panel wave to monitor sample composition and attrition.
- Assisting with the day-to-day panel operations of the Singapore Life Panel.
- Maintaining familiarity with the latest developments in panel survey methodology.
- External Engagements
- Handle requests for information from researchers and other interested parties related to the panel.
- Assist with the reports and presentation decks for external audiences and stakeholders.
- Engage in outreach activities, including:
- Organising symposiums, workshops, seminars, roundtables and conferences;
- Community outreach programs;
- International research collaborations;
- Fundraising activities with private and government organisations.
- Depending on their abilities and preferences, this person also may represent the Centre externally, whether in the media, professional organisations, government or other forums.
- Other ad hoc administrative duties as required by the Centre
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree (for research assistant) and Master's degree (for research associate).
- Background in economics or social sciences preferred.
- At least 2 years of relevant research experience
- Essential:
- Quantitatively trained, with experience in STATA, R or SPSS.
- Experienced in structural equation modelling or machine learning techniques.
- Detail-oriented with exacting standards to maintain accuracy and impartiality in all work products.
- Ability to work independently and cohesively in teams.
- Ability to balance numerous tasks simultaneously and is organised.
- Editorial judgment and proven ability to communicate research methodology and survey results clearly and concisely in the Centre's style in both verbal and written form
- Preferred:
- Clear capacity to train and develop skills in coworkers.
- Ability to take a leadership role in managing the work of colleagues when needed.
- Interest in expanding skills to cover new analytical tools and methods.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
