RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will be responsible for conducting research on establishing correlation/causation links between various observable bio-markers/physiological signals and spatial cognitive functions, with the special focus on collecting and sense-making the data from various empirical studies (across two different environmental abstraction).
Successful candidate will be part of an active research team led by Asst.
Prof Thivya Kandappu from School of Computing and Information Systems, Singapore Management University.
Candidate's core responsibilities are:
- Develop algorithms to translate the biomarkers into quantifiable measures to correlate temporal and spatial dynamics of spatial cognition.
- Design and prototype experimental wearable devices.
- Help design and conduct experimental studies with human subjects under various conditions using appropriate devices (such as custom-made wearables, Hololens 2, Meta Quest Pro etc.).
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics and/or Biomedical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems or closely related disciplines from an institution of higher learning
- Prior experience as research assistant/research engineer is preferred.
- Prior experience in cognitive modeling, spatial navigation, virtual/mixed-reality-based spatial simulations
- Proficiency in programming software/languages such as Python and C++, with evidence of using such languages in developing of working embedded system prototypes.
- Project-level experience in the use of signal processing algorithms on one or more of wireless/audio/ video/radar sensor data streams
- Excellent academic record with demonstrable achievements of well-executed academic projects
- Experience with the deployment and use of Deep Learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow or Pytorch), including the design of neural network based human activity detection models.
- Self-motivated individual who can work independently and collaboratively with team members.
