We are looking for a Research Fellow to drive innovation in soft and stretchable electronic systems by overcoming the challenges of interconnection and encapsulation, enabling their robust, long-term deployment in advanced wearable and healthcare applications.
The role leverages expertise in flexible electronics, stretchable conductors, and device encapsulation to create mechanically stable, electrically reliable systems.
This position contributes directly to the development of durable, scalable solutions that advance the field of soft interconnects and accelerate their integration into next-generation biomedical and robotic platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct research collaboratively with team members to ensure the timely completion of project deliverables.
Design, develop, and fabricate soft interconnects and encapsulation strategies for stretchable electronic devices, emphasizing long-term operational stability.
Explore novel materials and topological interface designs to enhance mechanical robustness and electrical reliability under cyclic deformation.
Integrate stretchable conductors and encapsulation layers into functional systems such as wearable healthcare monitors and hybrid electronic platforms.
Assist in grant writing.
Maintenance of lab or equipment or supplies that include procurement and liaison with suppliers.
Assist or produce high quality reports and documents that consolidate research findings
Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences.
Contribute to the mentoring and guidance of junior researchers and students, fostering an environment of learning and innovation within the project team.
Job Requirements:
PhD in materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
4 years of relevant experiences in soft robotics preferred.
Expertise in flexible and stretchable electronics, interconnection, and encapsulation strategies.
Strong background in stretchable conductors, interface engineering, and hybrid electronics integration.
Proficiency in materials characterization, mechanical/electrical testing, and device system integration.
Experience in thermal protection encapsulation, modulus engineering, or bio-inspired nanocomposites is advantageous.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Capable of design and assemble of device prototypes.
Candidates with publications in top-tier scientific journals are preferred.
