Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU ( ) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities.
It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment.
has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on specific area of the energy value chain, and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real-world applications.
We are looking for a Research Fellow to support the research on power electronics for renewable energy systems, which include solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery energy storage systems (BESSs), and electrolyzers.
These research areas are aligned with the university targets on more sustainable societies.
Responsibilities
Design and develop topologies and control strategies for DC/DC, DC/AC, and AC/DC power converters.
Conduct simulations, experiments, and analysis to advance power conversion solutions for renewable energy systems.
Review grid codes and standards, and evaluate compliance of existing or proposed converter solutions.
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publications to disseminate research outcomes.
Contribute to research proposals and project deliverables.
Support laboratory activities, including equipment maintenance, procurement, and administrative tasks.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, with strong academic and publication track record.
Solid expertise in power electronics analysis, simulation, and experimental validation.
Proficiency in tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or PSIM.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
Fresh Ph.D. graduates with strong potential are encouraged to apply for a Research Fellow position.
Candidates with a significant track record and minimum 4 years as a post-doc could be considered for a Senior Research Fellow positions.
Experience with grid codes, HIL simulators, rapid prototyping, or wide bandgap devices is a plus.
