R The School of Art Design and Media (ADM) in collaboration with the Robotics Research Centre 2 (RRC2) at the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant for the project Anticipatory Robotics.Project Introduction: The project titled Anticipatory Robotics aims to improve Human-Robot Interaction by developing a “Robot Body Language” wherein messages including emotions are incorporated into the movements of collaborative robots.**Key Responsibilities:*** Design, implement, and test real-time multi-objective motion planning algorithms to enable hybrid expressive-functional robot trajectories in collaborative robotic systems.* Conduct HRI experiments to validate the framework across coexistence, sequential collaboration, cooperation, and collaboration scenarios.* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers in robotics, AI, and human factors.* Contribute to high-quality research publications, conference presentations, and reports.* Support the supervision of graduate students and research assistants involved in the project.**Job Requirements:*** PhD in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.* Strong background in robotics motion planning and control and familiarity with trajectory optimization for single- and/or dual-arm cobots.* Knowledge of movement primitives and multi-objective optimization.* Practical experience with industrial or collaborative robotic arms (e.g., UR, KUKA, ABB).* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and ROS.* Experience working on interdisciplinary projects involving both technical and human-centered aspects of robotics.* Demonstrated ability to carry out independent research, as evidenced by publications in reputable journals or conferences.We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.Hiring Institution: NTUNTU is also home to world-class autonomous institutes – the National Institute of Education, S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Earth Observatory of Singapore, and Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering – and various leading research centres such as the Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute (NEWRI) and Energy Research Institute @ NTU ( ).Ranked amongst the world’s top universities by QS, NTU has also been named the world’s top young university for the past seven years.
