The institute focuses on cutting-edge research in quantum technologies, advanced materials, and sensor development.We are looking for a Research Fellow to lead critical research activities in the development of quantum-grade nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center diamonds and their application in advanced magnetometry systems.**Key Responsibilities:*** Develop and optimize chemical vapor deposition (CVD) processes for growing ultra-pure single-crystal diamonds with controlled nitrogen-vacancy center formation* Implement sustainable synthesis protocols for 12C-isotope enriched diamond fabrication, including gas recirculation systems and process optimization* Collaborate to execute precision nitrogen doping strategies for deterministic NV center placement* Collaborate and execute project deliverables for successful NV center diamond-based devices such as vector magnetometer and wide-field RF sensor* Collaborate with team members across multiple institutions including DSO National Laboratories and A*STAR* Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations for project milestones and deliverables**Job Requirements:*** PhD degree in Physics, Materials Science, Solid State Chemistry, or related field with specialization in diamond technologies and advanced materials characterization techniques* At least 3 years of relevant experience in diamond CVD growth, or similar synthesis techniques* Proficiency in cleanroom fabrication processes and materials characterization techniques* Experience with optical spectroscopy and microwave engineering* Good writing skills for writing proposals, reports and publications in good academic journals* Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team environment* Experience with vacuum systems, plasma processes, and gas handling systems preferred* Knowledge of quantum information science and quantum sensing applications highly desirableWe regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.Hiring Institution: NTUNTU is also home to world-class autonomous institutes – the National Institute of Education, S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Earth Observatory of Singapore, and Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering – and various leading research centres such as the Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute (NEWRI) and Energy Research Institute @ NTU ( ).Ranked amongst the world’s top universities by QS, NTU has also been named the world’s top young university for the past seven years.
