Is this Role Right for You?

In this role, you will be part of Arup’s Research Programme Leadership Team, responsible for increasing the value and impact of Arup’s global research investments.

You will do this by developing and implementing a global research impact strategy that aligns with Arup’s purpose (shaping a better world) and priorities.

You’ll also lead the design of frameworks for assessing, monitoring, and reporting on research impact, guide colleagues in how to evaluate and communicate impact, and facilitate high‑quality impact case studies for a range of audiences internally and externally.

Each year Arup Research Programme invests in approximately 200 research projects engaging close to 200 external collaborators.

You will be working across project teams to drive research value and impact through advice, training, practical tools and by fostering an impact culture.

This position is based in Singapore, Melbourne, or Brisbane, with flexible working arrangements available to support a collaborative and inclusive working environment.

  • Develop and implement a research value and impact strategy aligned with Arup’s purpose and strategic priorities.

  • Capture, assess, and evaluate the collective value and impact of Arup’s research portfolio, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Design and embed effective continuous monitoring and evaluation methods across the research portfolio.

  • Lead the creation and dissemination of research value and impact case studies and other communications for internal and external audiences, producing high‑quality written and visual materials that clearly communicate research outcomes and impact.

  • Guide and support researchers to maximise the value and societal impact of their work, from project design to delivery.

  • Collaborate to produce shared resources, training and communications, working closely with learning and marketing and communication teams to ensure a consistent and coherent approach to understanding and amplifying research impact across Arup.

Skills And Experience

  • Experience leading the development and delivery of research impact strategies and frameworks in large complex organisations.

  • Extensive experience facilitating and driving research impact and a strong understanding of the spectrum of research impact pathways, including commercialisation.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide advice, training, and practical support to Arup researchers (ideally in an industry setting) to increase value and impact of their research.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to establish productive working relationships and networks with stakeholders at all levels of seniority across large global organisations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proven ability to communicate research impact in a range of different formats and to different audiences.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience); postgraduate qualification desirable.
