A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR IDL) is seeking for a Scientist to join us in our mission to be a leading centre of infectious diseases research.
A*STAR IDL aims to develop a cohesive A*STAR response to drive and deliver translational infectious diseases research to better health and economic outcomes.
Job Description:
A 2-year position exists to study host susceptibility to Mycobacterium abscessus infection, and design of new diagnostics to identify and track non-tuberculous mycobacterial infection and response to therapy.
The position will require a candidate to use molecular biology techniques to interrogate the host and pathogen molecules responsible for infection phenotypes, perform infection experiments in permissive animal models of mycobacterial infection, and design next generation molecular tests for known pathogens.
The applicant will be expected to collaborate with other members of the Bacterial Pathogenesis Lab (Oehlers Lab) and the Respiratory and AMR Divisions across A*STAR IDL.
The scientist position is expected to be self-motivated and contribute ideas beyond the initial scope of the project that can be developed either by the scientist themselves or through the provision of additional manpower as determined by merit.

The applicant will be required to document their work for potential Intellectual Property filing and will share in ownership of commercial outputs of their work.
