ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of Research Scientist in the Integrated Composite Processing Section.
This position requires the applicant to lead and conduct research in advanced fibre-reinforced composites forming and moulding technology, study and characterization of composite structures.
The scientist is required to support both industry and R&D projects where process innovation, structural testing and material characterizations are needed.
Experience in project management, grant writing and patent applications will be advantageous.
Basic knowledge of material circularity, CAD design, finite-element analysis and algorithm development is required.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Research on advanced short-fibre reinforced thermoplastic composites in multiple material systems.Working with a team of scientists and engineers to enhance the capability of compression moulding technology.Formulate scientific research direction and innovative proposals to secure competitive funding.Understand the advanced manufacturing domain and provide innovative solutions to industry problems in the area.Familiar with CAD and CAE tools, SolidWorks, etc.Deep knowledge of a wide range of forming technologies of metal, composites, and polymer materialsConduct mechanical tests, testing tool/jig design and material characterizationsDevelop and test innovative solutions to optimize composite compression moulding process technologiesPrepare project progress update presentation for customersPrepare research project proposals, presentations, and reports, conduct R&D experiments and file technology disclosuresSupport in the process equipment set-up, laboratory operations, and inventory management for export control itemsKeep a good record of production work orders, laboratory data, methods, results, drawings, etcAble to perform well in both industry-type and research-type projectsJOB REQUIREMENT
Ph.D. in Aerospace/ Mechanical/ Material Science Engineering, etc.Candidates with strong fundamentals in material science and mechanical engineering are welcomeExperienced with composite moulding machine operations and process troubleshootingGood track record of scientific publications in top journals and conferencesWe value the following soft skills:
