SUMMARY OF THE ASSIGNED DUTIES, INCLUDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST

The Executive Directorate for Police Services (EDPS) oversees all INTERPOL's police activities and criminal databases.

The Organized and Emerging Crime (OEC) Directorate within EDPS focuses primarily on operational activities, including supporting member countries to carry out transnational operations, and provides investigative support to member countries.

The Vulnerable Communities (VCO) Sub-Directorate focuses on two crime areas: Crimes against Children (CAC), Human Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrants (HTSM).

Under the supervision and guidance of the management, the incumbent will perform its role in Crimes against Children by focusing on research and capacity building regarding the safeguarding of victims and practitioners working in the Crimes Against Children communities associated with law enforcement efforts and international police cooperation at the national, regional, and global levels.

The incumbent will work in close collaboration with other internal and external stakeholders to

develop materials supporting the delivery of workshops, training, investigative support, and meeting events relating to safeguarding activity associated with Crimes against Children.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES

DUTY 1

  • Administer and organize assigned duties based on the needs of NCBs (National Central Bureaus) and initiate, prepare and co-ordinate activities, projects or police operations in specific areas based on Member Countries' needs.

  • Coordinate technical support to member countries to integrate safeguarding mechanisms in management and investigations of cases that affect vulnerable communities.

  • Prepare briefing documents and summary reports related to the ongoing activities by describing deliverables, outcomes, and recommendations.

  • Prepare and submit written communications and briefings, review regularly documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); make oral presentations as appropriate; complete and submit reports relevant to the activity; and prepare any additional documents as necessary or as directed by the hierarchy.

DUTY 2

  • Carry out associated research supporting meetings and events (such as but not limited to trainings, seminars, workshops, meetings, etc.) related to Crimes Against Children.

  • Assist with outreach and liaison with internal and external stakeholders, logistical and general administration of meetings and activities.

DUTY 3

  • Undertake activity to understand specific training and capability needs of member countries.

  • Develop specialized training courses for member countries (agenda, curriculum design, content, lesson plans and deliverable outcomes).

DUTY 4

  • Analyze pertinent information and disseminate as appropriate, link items of information in order to develop trends and strategic initiatives as necessary.

  • Liaise closely with experts in their specialized fields in member countries and external organizations.

DUTY 5

  • Perform any other duties as required by the hierarchy.

QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

Education

  • Minimum of three to four years of education in a relevant field at a university or other specialized higher education establishment.

Experience Required:

  • At least three years' relevant experience in law enforcement related to the safeguarding of victims and witnesses.

  • Proven experience in international police co-operation.

  • Proven experience in the development and delivery of strategy and / or policy reports as well as operational procedure.

  • Proven experience in organizing major events, or training activities.

Languages:

  • Excellent command of English is required.

  • Proficiency in a second official working language of the Organization (Arabic, French or Spanish) would be an asset.

Abilities required:

  • Sound operational knowledge related to transnational crimes.

  • Sound knowledge of good practice in relation to Safeguarding
  • Proven competencies related on crime scene investigation and supporting multi-agency and regional collaboration.

  • Strong technical knowledge in one of the crime areas in terms of training, operational policies and analytical skills,

  • Ability to think/plan operationally and strategically.

  • Transform initiatives into new working practices.

  • Work within a multi-faceted investigative team concept.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software applications to produce training materials.
