Job Purpose
To provide architectural & building expertise and solutions for the company
To provide inputs on project and maintenance related technical coordination and services
To review, manage and coordinate internal projects, rejuvenation and renewal works
To review, coordinate and provide technical expertise/advise for all external stations’ interfaces, rejuvenation and upgrading works/projects
To provide technical expertise and adviser for existing and new stations and depots on design and maintenance aspects and requirements
To prepare Technical, information and documentation such as PJPs for systems/services renewal and rejuvenation works/project to LTA
Responsibilities
Co‐lead and co‐manage SMRT Architecture and LTA team for administration, coordination and supervision of all project system wide at Main/NSEW Line, Circle Line, Bukit Panjang Light Rail and Thomson‐East Coast Lines with architectural and structural interfacing.
Provide architectural and design consultancy and technical advice for internal parties projects and works – Renovation, A&A Works, work orders requested by internal SMRT stakeholders – NSM maintenance, Property Management, STELLAR, STRIDES and others.
Review and advise on RFM/AFM requirement, processes and procedure for structural & architectural related works.
Involve in the discussion and design of LTA Rails Project – green field, brown field and renewal projects.
Provide design review on architectural issues and problem solving with LTA, Government Agencies and SMRT disciplines for existing stations and depots as well as handle and advise on new and existing maintenance boundaries’ issues and updates.
Review drawings (design, construction and shop drawings) and provide architectural advice with internal and external parties, developers, LTA or Government Agencies.
Execute/involve in feasibility studies, site surveys/inspections and discussion – pre‐condition survey, post‐condition survey, feasibility study survey, material selection/presentation and others.
Review architectural design and specifications for tender/quotation for both internal & external parties projects, interfaces and rejuvenation projects.
Lead/assist/coordinate ad‐hoc projects and internal SMRT project support and requests.
Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with the relevant SMRT and Authorities’ quality procedures, specifications & standards, work safety requirements and railway operation procedures and requirements.
Attend meetings/presentations with LTA/Contractor/Developers and project services team to understand the full scope of works.
Collaborate with staff from various technical disciplines (POW, ECS, EMF, etc.) to provide accurate and consistent technical advice that meets the needs of the work requested (internal projects).
Respond to urgent request for troubleshooting due to contractors’ works and follow up the necessary actions to ensure the safety, reliability and operations are not affected.
Represent SMRT professionally and provide holistic review and advice on architectural and interior design for all related interfacing works from LTA, private developers, authorities such as HDB, NParks, NEA, etc and SMRT internal department.
Provide design review of new MRT lines such as Circle Line extension, Jurong Regional Line, Cross Island Line and upcoming stations and depots interfaces, enhancements and upgrading projects/works.
Qualifications & Work Experience
Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution, with at least 3‐5 years’ relevant experience.
Knowledge on Local Authorities’ requirement, COP and technical submission.
Previous Railway System experience would be advantageous.
Professional Skills
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Comfortable to work hands‐on in office and site environment alongside other Engineers, Assistant Engineers and Technical Officers.
Must also be able to work in different shift timings, when required.
Adept with diagnostics and reliability engineering methods such as FMECA, Fault Tree analysis, Weibull analysis and Damage Tolerance Analysis, etc.
Proficient at Microsoft Office applications.
Proficiency in Python and MATLAB would be advantageous.
Strong analytical and decision‐making abilities; effective organisational and planning skills; fluent in written and oral communication skills in English.
