Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) of A*STAR promotes public sector research and development in the physical sciences and engineering.
At SERC, we:
Support world-class research in A*STAR institutes in a wide range of fields including communications, AI & data science, cybersecurity, modelling and simulations, materials, chemicals, microelectronics, sustainability, manufacturing technologies and metrology;
Plan and promote research in strategic areas to create knowledge and intellectual property that will drive the development of knowledge-intensive industries;
Cultivate and engage an extensive network of public sector and industry partners via various programmes to facilitate a seamless flow of technologies from conception to commercialisation.We are looking for a passionate individual to join us in building Singapore's R&D capabilities in:
Applied AI for Robotics (Embodied AI)
Applied AI for Manufacturing You should have a strong drive and impact-oriented mindset to ensure investments in R&D activities deliver good economic and societal outcomes for Singapore.
Roles include but are not limited to the following:
Develop and implement strategies that advance the adoption of Applied AI technologies in key industrial domains.
Support the Deputy Directors in the planning and execution of R&D programmes to ensure alignment with national priorities.
Oversee Applied AI research initiatives across A*STAR, ensuring coherence, technical relevance, and translation potential across Manufacturing, Trade and Connectivity (MTC) domains.
Drive multi-stakeholder collaboration by engaging with public agencies, research partners, and industry players to identify needs, co-develop technologies, and accelerate the deployment of Applied AI and/or Robotics solutions in the manufacturing sector.
Support the development of technical competencies and institutional capabilities through knowledge-sharing, pilot projects, and ecosystem partnerships to build a sustainable Applied AI innovation pipeline.
Ensure that initiatives are aligned to national R&D and economic strategies and contributing to sectoral transformation and industrial competitiveness.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Data Science, or related disciplines.
A PhD or equivalent research experience is an advantage.
At least 6 years of professional experience in applied R&D, technology programme management, or strategic planning in Applied AI, robotics, or manufacturing-related domains.
Experience in working with a broad range of stakeholders?including government agencies, research institutes, and industry partners?on collaborative R&D or innovation initiatives.
Good understanding of AI methodologies and tools (e.g., machine learning, computer vision, sensor fusion) and their applications in robotics, autonomous systems, industrial automation, or smart manufacturing.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical content into strategic insights and engage senior leadership and external partners effectively.
