What You'll Do:
As an Independent Contributor, you will be highly autonomous and expected to drive projects through their entire lifecycle.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Designing and Deploying ML Solutions: Architecting, developing, and maintaining machine learning models, with a focus on continually improving our recommendation systems to enhance consumer experience and engagement.
- Innovating with AI: Devising and implementing automation solutions, particularly incorporating advanced AI/ML models (including LLMs and Generative AI) into our corporate AI portal.
- Strategic Collaboration: Partnering closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and IT application owners to understand critical business problems and translate them into data science initiatives.
- Research & Development: Exploring cutting-edge data science techniques and technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving technological landscape, applying them to diverse lines of business within the media industry.
- End-to-End Project Ownership: Leading the full lifecycle of data science projects, from data exploration and model development to deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Driving Impact: Communicating complex findings clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences, influencing strategic decisions, and ensuring the practical application of data science insights.
What We're Looking For
- Education: A strong university degree in Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Professional Experience: Proven professional experience as a Data Scientist, with demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Recommendation Systems (development and deployment)
- User Profiling & Look-alike Models
- Programming Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in Python and its associated data science ecosystem (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch).
- Database Skills: Strong command of SQL for data manipulation and analysis, and familiarity with relational databases.
- Problem Solving & Independence: A strong track record of independent learning, technical problem-solving, and leading projects with minimal supervision.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Analytical Rigor: Comfortable manipulating, analyzing, and deriving insights from complex, disparate data sources.
Highly Desired Skills & Experience:
- Advanced ML/AI: Experience in productionizing Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI solutions.
- Domain Knowledge: Relevant deep domain knowledge, particularly in the media industry, digital engagement, or user profiling.
- Chinese Language Proficiency: Strong proficiency in written and spoken Chinese to effectively support the Chinese media group.
- Other Languages: Proficiency in other analytical programming languages (e.g., JavaScript)
- NoSQL Databases: Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, OpenSearch, Elasticsearch).
- Cloud & Containers: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and/or containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Product Mindset: Keen interest in stakeholder management and data science product management.
- Agile Environment: Experience with agile methodologies and managing multiple concurrent projects effectively.
