About the Department and Role:
Join a dynamic team within the Department of Surgery involving a key clinical benchmarking initiative.
You will work closely with surgical clinician champions to identify opportunities for quality improvement and enhance patient care outcomes through data-driven insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary (80%)
• Collaborate with clinical leads to identify surgical cases for inclusion in NSQIP based on set criteria.
• Collect and abstract preoperative, operative, and postoperative data using hospital medical records.
• Attend weekly Morbidity & Mortality (M&M) conferences to capture accurate postoperative data.
• Ensure timely and accurate entry of clinical data into the programme database, in compliance with caseload protocols.
• Leverage software tools for data collection and analysis.
• Identify and recommend improvements to streamline data collection processes and enhance efficiency.
Secondary (20%)
• Support initiatives to improve workflows and operational efficiency within the surgical patient care journey.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the reporting officer.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution.
• Background in nursing, medicine, or healthcare is highly preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Meticulous with a high level of accuracy in data handling and documentation.
• Familiarity with clinical terminology, surgical procedures, and basic human anatomy/physiology is advantageous.
• Skilled in using data collection tools and understanding basic statistical concepts.
• Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
