Our client is a well established brand in the Commodities sector.
They are actively looking for a seasoned legal professional to join their regional legal team.
Responsibilities
- Providing legal support for the Group’s businesses
- Handle a broad range of general corporate matters - drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts to provide legal advice to finalize agreements and protect the interests of the group
- Assist in mergers and acquisitions - drafting and negotiating term sheets, letters of intent, share/asset purchase agreements
- Provide legal advisory services to management on the interpretation and application of contractual provisions for the efficient and effective performance of legal contracts
- Drafting, review and negotiation of contracts relating to major infrastructure projects e.g. capex expansion projects
- Provide legal support and advice throughout the entire life cycle of large-scale infrastructure projects: NDAs, bidding/tendering, contract negotiations and execution phase of large-scale infrastructure projects (responding to variation and extension of time claims, claim for liquidated damages)
- Sound advice on possible legal risks and provide mitigation solutions for various projects
- Strategize and manage disputes, contentious/litigious matters with external counsel and the Group management team
- Manage external counsel on budget and bill overruns
- Evaluate the effectiveness of legal technology solutions, including Enterprise Legal Management and Entity Management tools, at improving the legal team’s productivity and efficiency
- Implement legal technology tools for use by the legal team and its internal clients
- Take on as business administrator for legal technology solutions implemented by the legal team, responsible for developing process flows, managing user access, providing training to legal team members
- Ensure that internal group legal policies and guidelines are understood and implemented; providing training to internal clients and colleagues
Requirements
- LL.B or equivalent Singapore qualified lawyer from a reputable university
- At least 8 years of Post Qualification Experience (PQE)
- Experience in handling infrastructure project disputes / claims and dispute resolution in the SEA region will be an advantage
- Experience gained either from a reputable international law firm, or in-house position in a multinational company is highly preferred
- Having international exposure working in the agricultural commodities and/or related manufacturing industries will be advantageous
- Exposure to regional work and diverse business operations
