Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and integration of opto-mechanical subsystems for advanced laser and electro-optics systems, including optical mounts, enclosures, alignment mechanisms, thermal management, and vibration isolation
Perform tolerance, structural, and thermal analyses using simulation tools to ensure mechanical stability and robustness of design
Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and precision alignment of opto-mechanical subsystems, ensuring manufacturability and field readiness
Perform prototyping, integration, environmental testing, ruggedisation, and optimisation for mobile or fixed deployment platforms
Collaborate with system, electronics, and optical engineers to ensure mechanical designs meet performance and operational requirements
Develop and maintain comprehensive and accurate technical documentation, including design records, test reports, and validation data, ensuring compliance with configuration management and industry standards
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of experience in opto-mechanical design for precision systems, preferably in defense, aerospace, or photonics industries
Strong background in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and FEA tools (ANSYS, COMSOL)
Familiar with optical alignment methods, thermal and vibration management for sensitive optical assemblies
Hands-on experience in optical alignment and integration is strongly preferred
Deep understanding of optical-mechanical interface requirements
Structured, detail-oriented mindset for engineering documentation and system integration
Strong collaboration skills to work across optical, electronics, and systems teams
Proactive in problem-solving and field support during testing or deployment
