JOB DESCRIPTION
- Support the Piping Lead Engineer by executing assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Lead a team of piping engineers and designers or supervise external design house deliverables.
- Review and track progress of piping design to ensure alignment with project schedules and specs.
- Ensure isometric, spool, and other piping drawings meet construction and field requirements.
- Collaborate with stress, routing, and support design teams for integrated piping solutions.
- Align piping design with equipment layout, escape routes, maintenance, and handling access.
- Verify 3D model accuracy against latest P&IDs and pipe stress analysis reports.
- Coordinate with vendors, engineering disciplines, procurement, production, and commissioning.
- Review and comment on piping layouts, isometric drawings, support drawings, and calculations.
- Evaluate vendor technical proposals and documentation (e.g., VCDs).
- Ensure compliance with contract specs, regulatory, and classification standards.
- Prepare and manage technical queries (TQF) and engineering variation orders (EVO).
- Monitor drawing revisions, hold items, and manage surplus materials.
- Track required inputs, interface points, 3D model clashes, and review punch lists.
- Maintain completeness of design database to meet digital engineering requirements.
- Support fabrication, erection, testing, painting, welding, and commissioning activities.
- Conduct onboard inspections and assist with QA/QC and test package preparations.
- Maintain communication between design and construction teams for design compliance.
- Monitor responses from clients and classification societies.
- Track procurement progress, piping weight, and any hot work or tank coating activities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in piping engineering
- Preferably experienced in offshore or shipyard projects (e.g., rig building, shipbuilding)
- Experience in FPSO projects (both topsides and marine scopes) is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of piping design, planning, and engineering workflows
- Familiarity with international standards such as ASME, ASTM, API, and classification society regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced skills preferred)
- Experience with 2D drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD)
- Skilled in 3D model review software (e.g., Navisworks)
- Knowledge of 3D modeling applications such as SmartPlant, AVEVA, Cadmatic, etc.
