Within RWE Supply & Trading (RWEST), Commodity Solutions is in charge of customer coverage, responsible for up- and downstream origination and sales activities in large parts of Europe, also serving large industrials and municipalities.
As part of Commodity Solutions the Commodity Flow Desk Global (CFD) provides access to the energy wholesale markets for different client sectors.
Acting as this “cross-commodity hub”, the CFD supports external counterparties in managing their energy price risks through relevant exposures in Power, Gas, Emission Certificates, and derivative hedging products.
About the role
Build the Future of RWEST CFD in APAC – You will play a key role in shaping the future of RWE's Commodity Flow Desk (CFD) in APAC.
You will join the CFD team responsible for executing financial and select physical OTC-hedging transactions, focusing on Oil, LNG/Gas, Coal, Power, and green certificates (e.g. EUAs, carbon credits) across the APAC region.
You will drive efforts to grow the APAC franchise by originating, establishing, and managing client relationships, and by executing transactions supported by CFD teams in Singapore and Essen.
You will be instrumental in the groundwork and market entry strategies for new jurisdictions and products.
This includes:
Investigating and evaluating the potential of new business cases.
Defining the necessary setups for country-specific and product-specific requirements.
Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to secure all required approvals.
You will manage and trade the CFD sales trading book, expanding business with both existing and new clients, and streamlining operational processes across key APAC markets such as Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore.
Job requirements and experience
You hold a university and/or higher degree in business, engineering or a related field.
You understand the risk management practices employed by various customer sectors and aggregators in commodities such as Oil, LNG, and Power in APAC, and you're familiar with the respective instruments used in hedging (e.g. OTC swaps, futures, etc.).
You bring substantial experience in energy sales trading and/or flow origination (min.
3 years of trading experience is preferred) from roles within banking, energy majors, or energy trading, across upstream and downstream markets in APAC, particularly within our focus markets: Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore.
You have an established client network in at least one of the focus countries and possess a strong understanding of cultural dynamics across these APAC markets (min.
3 years working with clients in the region is preferred).
You are proactive, entrepreneurial, and display high initiative with a clear drive to develop new business opportunities, while embracing challenges, working well both independently and in teams, and applying complex analytical and conceptual thinking to problem-solving.
You have excellent English communication skills and can effectively translate analytical insights for interdisciplinary audiences internally and externally; language skills in any of the focus countries are considered a strong asset.
You are able to travel across the region as needed.
