About the role: Server & VMware Administration
Responsibilities
- Good number of IT experience with 8-10 years of global compute infrastructure engineering experience
- Installation and Administration of VMware ESXi 7/8.x, and VMware vCenter 7/8.x
- Architecting, designing and deploying Virtualization Technologies – MS Hyper-V, VMware
- Work experience spanning multiple companies with complex compute infrastructures supporting physical, virtual (VMware, Vblock) and cloud (private, public, hybrid) compute environments
- Implement virtualization solutions based on VMware vSphere 7/8.x Environment
- Document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to enhance team knowledge and efficiency
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving system performance and reliability
- Involved in live migration of Virtual machines and VM files using vMotion and Storage vMotion
- Handle all Server issues (Hardware, firmware, backup & troubleshooting automated alerts)
- Good knowledge in VROPS tool to manage capacity and monitor infra performance
- HP Hardware knowledge and server rack
- Configure High Availability, Fault Tolerance & Distributed Resource Scheduler
- Manage Snapshots and Templates as per requirement
- P2V and V2V conversions using VMware Standalone Converter
- Experience with remote boards such as ILO, DRAC, IMM
- Migration of Windows 2012 servers to Windows 2019 and 2022 servers
- Create and deploy VMs within Hyper-V environment; design Hyper-V failover cluster for a business-critical application
- Deployment of patches using Bigfix, SCCM & WSUS
- Experience with Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019 and 2022
- Maintain Vulnerability Assessment (VA) for all servers and ACL for file servers
- Experience with Symantec Endpoint Protection & CrowdStrike agent
- Patch management of Hosts with VMware Update Manager (VUM)
- Administration of VMware Horizon View 7.6.0 & 7.10 & 7.13
- Creating and managing golden images and deploying into production
- Creating Templates/Snapshots/Clones and deploying new VMs
- Creating App stacks in App Volumes for application deployment in VDI
- Upgrade of vCenter appliance
- Knowledge of vR Ops and Log Insight
- Managing storage and provisioning LUNs using EMC, 3PAR and Dorado
Qualifications
- Strong virtualization and server administration experience (8-10 years) in global compute infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi 7/8.x, VMware vCenter 7/8.x
- Experience with Hyper-V and virtualization design
- Experience across physical, virtual, and cloud (private/public/hybrid) environments
- Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills
- Ability to participate in team meetings and drive improvements
- Experience with vMotion and Storage vMotion, VROps, and patch management tools
- Familiarity with hardware platforms and remote management interfaces (ILO, DRAC, IMM)
