The Position

The Solution Architect Cloud & Compute is responsible for designing secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud and compute infrastructure solutions that meet evolving business needs.

This role ensures the alignment of cloud strategy with enterprise goals, working closely with IT, cybersecurity, application teams, and business stakeholders to architect solutions that span on-premises, hybrid, and public cloud environments.

The role includes ownership of compute platform architecture (servers, virtualization, containers) and cloud adoption initiatives.

Major Responsibilities

Platform and Solution Design and Strategy

• Develop and maintain the organization's network architecture and solution design.

• Develop and maintain the organization's cloud and compute architecture and solution design, ensuring support for current and future business needs.
  
  

• Define platform standards, best practices, and guidelines for cloud and compute resources.
  
  

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective cloud and compute solutions.
  
  

• Create detailed solution designs, considering architecture principles, scalability, security, and performance.
  
  

Technology Evaluation

• Stay updated with emerging cloud and compute technologies and industry trends.
  
  

• Evaluate cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and compute technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes) for enterprise fit..
  
  

Technical Leadership

• Guide infrastructure and DevOps teams in delivering scalable and secure cloud and compute solutions.
  
  Ensure that technical designs align with established architecture standards for cloud and compute solutions.
  
  

Integration and Compatibility

• Ensure that cloud and compute solutions integrate seamlessly with existing systems and applications.
  
  

• Verify the compatibility of proposed solutions with hardware, software, and network environments.
  
  

Security and Compliance

• Incorporate security best practices into cloud and compute solution designs.
  
  

• Ensure compliance with data protection and regulatory requirements.
  
  

Documentation and Communication

• Document technical designs, architecture decisions, and implementation guidelines for cloud and compute solutions.
  
  

• Communicate solution designs effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  
  

Quality Assurance

• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to define testing strategies and validate cloud and compute solution functionality.
  
  

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise during implementation.
  
  

Technical Direction and Coordination

• Help define the technical direction for cloud and compute solutions and coordinate across product teams to ensure that every team has defined architecture patterns.
  
  

Requirements Transformation

• Transform requirements into specific cloud and compute solution architecture design documents.
  
  

Architectural Governance

• Govern the technical design against approved architectural standards and make final decisions on any technology changes or exceptions to architectural standards.
  
  

Business Alignment and Integration

• Understand business processes and requirements, ensuring the cloud and compute platform aligns with business goals.
  
  

• Facilitate integration between traditional data centers and cloud environments.
  
  

Scalability, Reliability, and Adaptability

• Ensure that the cloud and compute platform is scalable, reliable, and adaptable to changing business needs, while maintaining data integrity and security.
  
  

• Work closely with stakeholders across different departments to facilitate smooth system deployment and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Education/Training Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  
  

• Relevant certifications in solution architecture.
  
  

• Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect is highly desirable.
  
  

Experience:

• 5-8 years of experience in infrastructure or cloud architecture roles.
  
  Proven track record in designing and delivering complex compute solutions.
