Amazon Web Services is seeking a talented Controls Engineer to lead controls designs of our Data Centers across the rapidly expanding Asia Pacific (APAC) portfolio.
We are looking for candidates who share our customer obsession by providing innovative solutions to enhance reliability.
Technical leaders who can explain complex systems clearly, contributing to our global knowledge base and driving continuous improvement at a global scale.

You will work on multi-million dollar designs that support a wide range of businesses and customers, with ideas encouraged and supported to sustain quality, speed, and cost improvements.
You will lead a small international team of controls engineers and collaborate with internal and external groups including utilities, manufacturers, vendors, consultants, and contractors.
Travel is expected (approximately 25%), with projects across the APAC region and beyond.
Key responsibilities
Have deep knowledge of building operations, mechanical plant strategies, EPMS/BMS programming concepts, control diagrams, industrial HVAC, electrical line-ups, one line diagrams, and complex environmental and electrical concepts.
Data center redundancy, mechanical failure strategies, energy and water conservation best practices and data reporting analytics.
Operate effectively in high-security critical environments while maximizing productivity.
Innovate new solutions to support initiatives, team goals, and company objectives.
Lead and facilitate collaboration with multiple teams including construction, programmers, MEP/ACS engineers, and team managers to achieve initiative goals.
Lead external consultants to deliver project specifications to AWS standards and provide technical challenge when needed.
Create, maintain, and disseminate specification documents pertaining to global projects.
Create, maintain, and disseminate project-specific scope of work (SOW) documents including global design standards.
Vendor selection, bid review, approval of equipment submittals, RFI support and coordination.
Serve as a central point of contact for multiple internal and external groups regarding EPMS/BMS controls standards; manage requests for information for new construction, existing facilities, and legacy site enhancements.
Anticipate roadblocks and risks with escalation management.
Coordinate with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify appropriate controls equipment.
Prepare controls point lists, cable tray routing plans, and schedules.
Travel globally (predominantly within APAC) as needed to manage and support project initiatives.
Basic qualifications
Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of direct experience in data center or mission-critical facility design.
8+ years as design lead on projects with multiple teams or vendors to meet project requirements.
Comprehensive understanding of APAC code requirements and critical electrical and HVAC equipment, power monitoring and transfer schemes.
Experience with design, configuration, or servicing of one or more of the following products: Siemens Apogee, Honeywell Building Controls, Trend Building Controls, Schneider Electric PowerLogic/Struxureware, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk, Tridium Niagra, Eaton Foreseer, ABB Decathalon, Johnson Controls Metasys.
Business proficiency in English and ability to work in a diverse team.
Preferred qualifications
Project management, organization, and problem-solving skills with drive for results and ability to handle multiple tasks.
Experience with electrical power monitoring systems (Schneider, Eaton preferred).
Experience with building management systems software (Schneider, Siemens, Tridium, Trend preferred).
Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities; bring new concepts through exploration, development, and deployment.
Ability to perform complex business case analyses to justify technical decisions and present them to management at a high level.
