Job Description
Outpost is seeking an experienced and innovative Staff Data Scientist, Foundations, to join our growing team.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing foundational data science models and algorithms that drive our business decisions and operational efficiency.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our data science initiatives align with business objectives and contribute to our overall success.
Day-to-day
- Develop and implement robust data science models that address key business challenges.
- Design and execute experiments to validate and improve the performance of data-driven solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate data science models into production systems.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategic decisions.
- Mentor and guide junior data scientists and analysts in best practices and advanced methodologies.
- Communicate complex data-driven insights to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
- Continuously explore and evaluate new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance data science capabilities.
- Ensure data integrity, quality, and security throughout all stages of the data science pipeline.
Qualifications
- A Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a data science role, with a focus on building foundational models.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with data science libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, Scikit-learn).
- Strong background in statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling.
- Experience with big data technologies and platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
- Proven track record of successfully deploying data science models in production environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work on complex, unstructured problems.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate data insights into actionable business strategies.
- Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
