The Opportunity:
We are looking for talented, curious, and energetic Staff Software Support Engineers who possess strong leadership skills and strong interest in solving complex challenges on a global scale.

As a Visa Staff Software Support Engineer, you will provide technical expertise support for the Risk application systems.

The role expects the candidate to be a curious and self-motivated technical subject matter expert, provides technical troubleshooting skills for all support related challenges, and be accountable for the support delivery and operational excellence of multiple highly available application services.


The Work itself:
Work in Risk application support team to provide world-class application support.


Provide rotation basis 24x7 production support to all Risk suite of applications in the production environment.


Diagnose and resolve problems in production to meet all service level agreements (SLAs), including possible joint analysis with cross region team
Develop automation solutions for support automation, scripting needs
Develop software install plans, define release schedule and content.

Implement changes in the production environment.

Take full responsibility of the change end-to-end, including plan, communication, engage, execution and follow-up with all required groups e.g. infrastructure, middleware, database etc.


Develop, update, maintain Production monitoring solutions
Work with the Cybersecurity team to ensure all security vulnerabilities are remediated within the required timeline.


Partner with Developers, Test Engineering, Scrum Master / PM, as required.


Provide strategic technical and functional knowledge to critical Tier 1 Risk application:
Develop into subject matter expert for (at least one) of the critical Risk applications: Risk Message Processor (RMP), Issuer Fraud Detection (IFD)
Participate in business project discussion & deployment planning
Coaching and guiding team members in developing technical skills
Leverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Operational Support excellence.

Design and deploy automated support solution based on AI, support automation and become a
strong advocate
for pro-active monitoring.


This is not a requirement that any single candidate fulfill all characteristics; for example, we have team members focused on building scalable systems who may not have prior payments technology or web application experience.


This is a hybrid position.

Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.


Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.


Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.


Preferred degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering.


Strong troubleshooting and problem analysis skills is a MUST.


Strong understanding of IT infrastructure in Linux server, Storage, Network, Databases for application troubleshooting
Strong understanding of database concepts, MySQL and/or MSSQL and Cassandra.


Experience with Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc., production end-to-end monitoring tools exposure with SRE.


Experience with Kafka, IBM MQ, and Spring etc., Middleware software.


Experience with CI/CD pipeline software deployment and automation tools, software build, regression, and defect tracking tools e.g. Git, Jira.


5+ years of experience in design and implementation, comfortable in scripting or languages, e.g. Java, C++, Python, Go.
Experience in Kubernetes, containerization, e.g. Docker, will be added advantage.


Prior software engineering experience, familiar with software development lifecycle phases, agile framework including SAFe, will be added advantage.
