Job description
Responsibilties
- Civil/Structural Engineering Execution
Plan, execute, and oversee Civil and Structural (Offshore) engineering activities across all project phases—from concept definition, feasibility studies, and FEED through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover.
Conduct in-house site surveys, structural integrity assessments, and feasibility evaluations to ensure fit-for-purpose design solutions that meet operational, environmental, and safety objectives.
Provide expert technical input during early-phase concept selection, ensuring constructability, maintainability, and life-cycle cost considerations are embedded in design development.
- Technical Assurance & Standards Compliance
Ensure full adherence to technical assurance practices, corporate engineering standards, and applicable international codes (API, ISO, DNV, AISC, etc.) throughout all phases of project execution.
Critically review, evaluate, and manage technical deviations, concessions, and variations to ensure engineering integrity, risk mitigation, and compliance with approved engineering governance frameworks.
Proactively identify opportunities to optimize design without compromising quality, safety, or regulatory compliance.
- Standards Development & Governance
Support the Engineering Department in the review, enhancement, and implementation of client internal engineering standards and corporate amendments to external codes and specifications.
Lead initiatives for continuous improvement of civil/structural engineering standards, ensuring alignment with emerging technologies, sustainability considerations, and international best practices.
- Multidisciplinary Coordination & Leadership
Plan, coordinate, and lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers, ensuring timely and technically robust delivery of all civil/structural engineering deliverables in accordance with project schedules and priorities.
Interface with other engineering disciplines (process, mechanical, piping, instrumentation, electrical, and subsea) to ensure technical coherence and consistency across project scopes.
Facilitate design reviews, constructability assessments, and technical clarification meetings to ensure full alignment of project objectives across all stakeholders.
- Scope Definition & Work Management
Develop, review, and approve comprehensive multi-disciplinary work scopes for both in-house and contracted engineering activities.
Ensure clarity, completeness, and alignment of all scopes of work with project execution strategies, budgetary constraints, and regulatory requirements.
Provide technical guidance to contractors and consultants to resolve design interface issues and maintain quality control across deliverables.
- Method Statements & Contractor Liaison
Review and approve construction and installation method statements, ensuring alignment with design intent, offshore execution constraints, and client's HSE policies.
Liaise with EPIC contractors and third-party organizations to resolve complex civil/structural technical issues, ensuring design integrity and constructability are maintained throughout execution.
Conduct formal reviews and technical workshops to ensure contractor understanding and compliance with client's design philosophies and specifications.
- Planning, Scheduling & Progress Monitoring
Develop, update, and monitor detailed schedules for in-house engineering activities, ensuring optimal utilization of engineering resources.
Contribute to external FEED and EPIC project scheduling efforts, identifying key interfaces and dependencies to secure effective and timely project delivery.
Implement robust progress tracking mechanisms and performance indicators to monitor engineering deliverable status and mitigate potential delays.
- Technical Bid Evaluation & Contractor Assessment
Lead and conduct technical evaluations of tender and bid packages, ensuring full compliance with scope, specifications, and project standards.
Collaborate with Contracts and Procurement teams to ensure that bid clarifications and evaluations are conducted with technical and commercial rigor.
Recommend technically sound, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions in support of contractor selection decisions.
- Change Management & Variation Control
Review, analyze, and evaluate contract changes, design deviations, and variation orders, ensuring compliance with approved practices, standards, and project control procedures.
Assess potential technical and schedule impacts of proposed changes, and provide engineering justification for acceptance, rejection, or rework.
Maintain documentation and traceability of all change requests and variation approvals for governance and audit purposes.
