Job description
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for:
System Administration
Perform system administration and maintenance in a heterogeneous environment (production, DR, test) comprising of Oracle servers and Wintel-based servers
Perform system upgrade and enhancement on IT infrastructure components
Implement operating system and product-specific security hardening & patches
Monitor obsolescence of IT infrastructure components (systems)
Monitor expiry and perform renewal of system password and certificates
Ensure implementation of system backups to ensure data recoverability and business continuity
Execute disaster recovery plans for IT infrastructure (systems) and conduct regular disaster recovery testing and component switchover exercises to ensure usability of standby and DR equipment
Manages the application User Acceptance Test (UAT) and upkeep the use of UAT environment
Incident & Problem Management
Provide 2nd level system support and resolve incidents and problems in accordance to established Service Level Agreement (SLA)
Perform problem diagnosis on incidents and propose and implement measures to prevent recurrence
Change & Release Management
Schedule and release system changes to production environment in accordance to the change management process / procedures
Support application deployment for application changes as per application release notes
Configuration Management
Maintain the configuration information of the IT infrastructure components used in the production environment assigned
Capacity & Performance Management
Perform infrastructure capacity monitoring and reporting on a monthly basis
Monitor and perform performance tuning to optimize system performance when needed
Process Management
Implement the underlying processes supporting IT service management, in conformance to corporate security policies and guidelines when needed
Project Management & Support
Provide infrastructure (system) support to projects in accordance to the project timeline
Manages infrastructure enhancement / upgrade projects in accordance to established project management guidelines
Documentation
Develop and maintain technical and process documents to upkeep IT infrastructure when needed Requirements
Academic Criteria & Professional Certification
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology related discipline
Oracle Certified Systems Administrator certification (Optional)
RHEL Certified Systems Administrator certification (Optional)
Experience and Technical Skills Set
Minimum 2 years’ experience in system administration and support on Unix and/or RHEL
Experience in performing OS hardening and patching for Unix and/or RHEL
Experience in VMWare technologies
Proficiency in scripting for Unix and/or RHEL environment to automate tasks (Python and YAML scripting optional)
Experience in middleware (eg.
IBM MQ, IBM Connect Direct, JBoss Web Server) (Optional)
Experience in management and automation software (Satellite, Ansible) (Optional)
