This role is based in the Singapore Hub and focuses on delivering and supporting complex systems to customers in a high-security environment, working with large datasets and solving engineering problems at scale.
The Role - System Consultant
A System Consultant is a versatile systems deployment engineer within the local engineering team.
They have strong IT fundamentals and are adept at deploying, integrating, and supporting a diverse mix of infrastructure and application technologies in mission-critical, complex systems built by BAE.
Candidates will operate in a high-security environment, contributing to initiatives that defend against threats in the connected world.
The role is hands-on and requires technical depth, curiosity about technology, a drive for improvement, and the ability to make feasible recommendations or carry out controlled technical implementation.
The candidate should be comfortable working within a structured project schedule while meeting tight timelines and engaging effectively with customers.
Strong documentation discipline is essential.

Core Responsibilities
System Implementation & Support: Deploy, configure, and support infrastructure and application technologies used in our solutions.
Troubleshooting: Resolve deployment issues (project context) or incidents (service delivery) and collaborate with software engineers to remediate production problems.
Security & Compliance: Work independently in high-security environments, adhering to customer site and system security protocols.
Root Cause Analysis: Identify root causes by methodically analyzing and testing in controlled environments.
Incident & Service Management: Proactively handle incidents and service requests with clear, timely ticket updates.
Out-of-Hours Support: Provide support as needed and participate in on-call rotations with the wider local engineering team.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
Engage regularly with customers and partners to drive customer success and maintain trust through clear communication and demonstrated system expertise.
Testing & Validation
Execute Acceptance tests with Customers/Stakeholders during project test phases, raise defects concisely, and follow through with defect investigations.
Ensure deployed solutions or changes meet defined project requirements and objectives.
Engineering Processes & Collaboration
Seek and implement improved methods, document processes, and collaborate with global engineering teams to enhance system performance in projects and service delivery.
Produce high-quality technical documentation (Statements of Work, Incident Reports, User Guides).
Promote collaboration and continuous learning within the engineering community.
Coordinate with global teams on issue resolution and deployment activities.
Mandatory Traits & Skillsets
Analytical mindset with strong grasp of system logic.
Ability to replace manual procedures with automation.
Effective communication skills to engage developers, stakeholders, partners, and customers.
Strong understanding of networking (OSI model, TCP/IP); hands-on experience with tools like Wireshark.
Experience in network switching and routing concepts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and/or Linux environments (preferably Linux, e.g., RHEL or AlmaLinux).
Operational experience in system monitoring, maintenance, resource management, capacity planning, change management, and performance tuning for large systems.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment.
Hands-on Experience & Growth Opportunities
Experience with complex, scalable data platforms; relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MariaDB, PostgreSQL); directory services (LDAP, Active Directory).
Networking equipment from Cisco, Dell, Arista; distributed computing (Hadoop, HDFS); messaging (Kafka); NoSQL (Elasticsearch, Redis, HBase).
Container orchestration and deployment tools (Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Helm); automation tools (Ansible, Foreman, Puppet).
Database query languages (T-SQL, PL/SQL) and at least one high-level scripting language (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
Health monitoring systems (Nagios).
Working Knowledge
ITIL framework; basic software development concepts; relational and NoSQL databases; distributed processing and analytics (Spark).
Familiarity with productivity tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence, SharePoint).
Security Clearance
G50 Security Clearance is required for this SG role.
