Description

 

This is a Team Lead position in Cash Product Management department within Global Transaction Banking [GTB] division.

Leading a team of product managers, the candidate will be responsible for the management and commercialisation of cross border payment products for SMEs and Corporate customers, and driving Cash Product initiatives for Financial Institutions (FI) customer segment.

The candidate will also be responsible for the development of transaction banking capabilities in new countries of focus where OCBC has its global network of branches, to strengthen OCBC’s leading position in ASEAN-Greater China region.

In a highly competitive landscape for cross-border payment and transactional foreign exchange, the ideal candidate will drive the development of cutting-edge and unique cross-border payment solutions to win operating payment flows.

He/She will also spearhead the advancement of payment and receivables capabilities, catering to the requirements of regional financial institutions and regional corporates.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for a resilient individual with a strong drive to overcome intricate challenges and achieve success.

The candidate will collaborate with internal stakeholders in Singapore, as well as across OCBC's core markets and overseas branches, while also engaging with various business units and senior management within the bank.

Key Responsibilities

1.

Responsible for managing and driving accelerated growth in Cross Border payment volume and fee revenue, covering the product strategy, product development roadmap and product profitability 

  • Lead and implement product growth strategy, from ideation to development to commercialisation, drawing inputs through active engagement with Business Units and Sales for identification of client’s problem statement and use cases, as well as having a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, to elevate cross border payment propositions to meet client’s needs and enhance customer experience.
  • Set appropriate and ambitious targets to win operating accounts and accelerate fee revenue growth through Cross Border payment products, monitor product performance drivers and be accountable for product profitability, contributing to the achievement of GTB financial targets. 
  • Drive product commercialisation through in-depth understanding of product drivers, customer profile and use cases, work with GTB Sales and RMs on target customers and work with Marketing to develop marketing campaigns to increase awareness and drive usage.
  • Work with Operations & Technology, Customer Experience, Global Markets and relevant stakeholders to deliver superior customer experience through Straight-Through-Processing, payment resolution and extended cut off time.
  • Lead and actively participate in the discussion and management of the technology book of work – for both front-end client platforms as well as backend system build, by working closely with country product development team, Operations & Technology and focusing on user requirements, budgeting and project delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to Product Governance, embed Product Risk Mitigations and Fraud Prevention in the design and operation of the products.

    Continually assess the risks associated with the products, considering changing market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, and the impact of new technology.

Responsible for FI Cash product development and commercialisation to drive fees and transactional FX revenue across Banks and Non-Bank Financial Institution customer segments

  • Work with FI Business Unit to develop and bundle cutting-edge and and scalable product solutions for FI clients, leveraging on OCBC global presence and competitive advantages, to improve our customers’ value proposition and generate fee revenue.
  • Drive commercialisation of cash products, encompassing a broad range of product offerings such as payments, receivables, cards, transactional FX and channels such as APIs, Host-to-Host for FI clients, achieving high adoption at scale and recurring usage.

Responsible for the development of transaction banking capabilities in new markets where OCBC has branch presence, to strengthen OCBC’s leading position in ASEAN-Greater China region

  • Conduct comprehensive market research and competitor analysis in the new focus markets, gain a deep understanding of the payment, clearing and settlement rails and infrastructure, as well as regulations and restrictions on currencies, to put forth the recommended approach and required enhancements to build up transaction banking capabilities in the new market.
  • Work with GTB Sales and Relationship Managers, to identify the requirements of regional corporate clients, assess the potential market opportunities in the new market in comparison to local and foreign competitors, and formulate the product strategy and enhanced capabilities to effectively win Sales mandates.
  • Lead the end-to-end development roadmap of cash product capabilities, including overseeing the design and implementation of front-end client interface, backend system build and processing by Operations, by working closely with the regional Product Development and Operations & Technology, focusing on detailed user requirements, managing a strict project timeline and ensure successful delivery of the project.
  • Ensure strong product governance through establishing necessary internal controls, practices and documentation which adhere to local legal and regulatory standards.
 

Qualifications

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of product management experience in Global Transaction Banking and/or Financial Institutions, preferably in Payments & Receivables
  • Demonstrate a strategic mindset with a unique talent for formulating and implementing regional product strategies, displaying confidence and collaboration while working with cross-functional teams and diverse perspectives and achieving results in a large, complex, and regional business environment
  • A motivated leader who prioritises delivering results and possesses exceptional communication and presentation skills, in order to effectively engage and influence stakeholders of varying seniority
  • A versatile and resourceful individual with the ability to adapt, comprehend and apply knowledge in emerging markets.

    Must be willing to travel regionally for business meetings
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team of product managers towards achieving strategic goals, providing guidance and support, making decisions, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring their professional growth and development
  • Possess expertise in P&L management, showcasing strong financial acumen and a profound understanding of revenue drivers
  • Demonstrated history of success as a catalyst for change, possessing the capability to foster and adopt innovative ideas and product solutioning
  • In-depth understanding of project and process management, coupled with a keen eye for detail
  • Practical knowledge and experience in effectively mapping out client journeys and translating into a set of best-in-class customer experience and drive optimal business results
