Tech Lead – Merchant Portal, SDK, and Payment Integration (Hong Kong/Singapore)
We are hiring for an innovative crypto wallet and payment network startup seeking a Tech Lead to spearhead the development of a
merchant portal ,
SDK , and integration of our
proprietary payment method
for a mobile-first app.
You will drive the technical strategy to position our payment method as a seamless, quick, reliable, and scalable option alongside Alipay, WeChat Pay, PayMe, and others at retail POS and digital locations.
You will also oversee the integration of a white-label or plug-and-play e-commerce solution into the mobile app as a secondary focus.
The CTO will lead blockchain-related components, so crypto experience is not required but knowledge is a plus.
Mobile development experience is appreciated but not essential, given the mobile-first approach.
This role demands hands-on leadership to deliver secure, developer-friendly solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Define and execute the technical vision for a
merchant portal ,
SDK , and integration of our
proprietary payment method
within a mobile-first app, ensuring it is seamless, quick, reliable, and scalable at retail POS and digital locations.
Lead the design and development of a
merchant portal
to support vendor onboarding, catalog management, transaction tracking, and payout workflows, optimized for mobile interfaces.
Architect a
developer-friendly SDK
to enable third-party integrations with our payment method and wallet app.
Oversee integration of our
proprietary payment method
into retail POS terminals and digital platforms, ensuring it operates on par with Alipay, WeChat Pay, PayMe, and other leading payment solutions.
Select and integrate a
white-label or plug-and-play e-commerce solution
(e.g., Shopify, OpenCart) into the mobile app, ensuring alignment with the proprietary payment system.
Design secure, scalable APIs (REST, GraphQL) and backend systems to support merchant and payment workflows.
Collaborate with external stakeholders (e.g., merchants, POS vendors, payment ecosystem partners) to align technical solutions with business requirements.
Manage and mentor a cross-functional team of engineers (full-stack, backend, mobile) to deliver high-quality, maintainable codebases.
Ensure robust security, scalability, and performance of all systems, adhering to financial compliance standards (e.g., AML/KYC).
Drive DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, serverless infrastructure, and cloud-based deployments (e.g., AWS).
Qualifications
5+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a tech lead or senior engineering role.
Proven experience building
merchant portals
or
vendor-facing platforms , including workflows for onboarding, catalog management, or payouts.
Expertise in
API design
(REST, GraphQL) and
SDK development
for third-party integrations.
Hands-on experience integrating
payment systems
into retail POS terminals or digital platforms, with a focus on seamless, reliable, and scalable solutions.
Strong proficiency in modern tech stacks (e.g.,
Node.js ,
Typescript ,
React ,
Next.js ,
NestJS ) and cloud platforms (e.g.,
AWS Lambda ,
API Gateway ,
S3 ).
Experience leading distributed teams in
fintech ,
e-commerce , or related fields.
Ability to work on-site or hybrid in Hong Kong or Singapore, with flexibility for periodic travel.
Preferred Skills
Experience integrating
white-label e-commerce solutions
(e.g., Shopify, OpenCart) or payment systems into retail POS or digital platforms.
Familiarity with
mobile-first development
(e.g.,
React Native , responsive design) for merchant-facing applications, though not essential.
Proficiency in
serverless architecture ,
event-driven systems , or infrastructure tools (e.g.,
Serverless Framework ,
Terraform ).
Knowledge of
crypto payment systems ,
DeFi , or blockchain-based technologies (e.g., wallets), though not required as the CTO leads blockchain components.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills to align with merchants, POS vendors, and business teams.
