Technical Director, Artificial Intelligence
The Technical Director, Artificial Intelligence is sought to drive high-performance computing (HPC) initiatives and support the integration of HPC with artificial intelligence (AI) within a research and innovation ecosystem.
This role offers a unique opportunity to enhance core HPC capabilities, develop sustainable computing infrastructures, and contribute to positioning the country as a global leader in HPC-AI convergence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical efforts across HPC capability development, AI model optimization, and scalable deployment strategies.
- Define and guide the research roadmap for HPC-AI integration, emphasizing scalability, sustainability, and real-world impact.
- Collaborate with academic institutions, technology providers, and industry stakeholders to align with national priorities and foster strategic partnerships.
- Oversee and contribute to high-impact projects, publications, open-source initiatives, and intellectual property development.
- Represent HPC initiatives in global forums to enhance international visibility and collaboration.
Strategic Focus Areas
- HPC Capability Building: Advance hardware-software co-design, performance tuning, and adaptive code development for emerging architectures.
- Efficient AI Model Training: Optimize distributed training, data movement, and compute efficiency across diverse hardware platforms.
- Scalable Deployment: Develop AI-driven resource scheduling and orchestration strategies for hybrid environments including supercomputers, edge clusters, and cloud systems.
- Sustainable Computing: Promote energy-efficient architectures and carbon-aware scheduling to support national sustainability goals.
Technical Expertise Required
- Deep knowledge of HPC systems, including GPU clusters, parallel computing, and heterogeneous architectures.
- Strong familiarity with HPC frameworks (MPI, OpenMP).
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and their integration with HPC environments.
- Proven leadership in managing complex technical projects and multi-stakeholder collaborations.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, Computational Science, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience in cloud-based HPC, hybrid computing, and Artificial Intelligence.
- Familiarity with quantum-classical hybrid computing and future integration pathways.
- Demonstrated success in industry collaborations and technology transfer.
