Technical Support Officer – School Laboratory Technician
Contract Period: 1 Jan 2026 – 31 Dec 2026

Personnel will be deployed as follows:
Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., inclusive of 0.5-hour lunch break
Fridays: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., inclusive of 0.5-hour lunch break
Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays
Total working hours per week: 42 hours
The Technical Support Officer shall perform the following duties:
Laboratory Management
Manage the operation of science laboratories (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) to ensure smooth daily practical sessions.
Prepare apparatus and materials for internal Science practical exams.
Supervise the partnering Operations Support Officer (OSO) to maintain cleanliness and order in the laboratories.
Procurement & Inventory
Handle procurement of laboratory materials, including finance administration.
Maintain digital inventories for all laboratories under charge and conduct termly stock checks.
Support Academic Programmes
Assist the Centre of Excellence (Science) Committee in planning and implementing programmes.
Provide support for teaching and learning activities, as well as examination preparation and execution.
Additional Duties
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Head of Department (Science) or Subject Head (Science).

Educational Qualifications
At least a Diploma in Science or a related field, or A-levels or their equivalent.

Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a laboratory technician in a school laboratory, preferably in a secondary school.
Experience in preparing for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics experiments.

Skills
Strong content knowledge and practical skills in laboratory work (evidence to be provided on resume).
Good communication and presentation skills.
Strong organisational skills and ability to work efficiently, demonstrated through past projects or achievements.
