TikTok Shop - Data Scientist - Measurement
Our economists team collaborates with business teams to understand their challenges, develop a research agenda, design pilots and measure their impact.
We are looking for candidates who are creative thinkers with a strong technical economic toolkit.
Our partner teams include algorithm engineers, marketing, seller & creator growth, user growth, resource management, and more.
Responsibilities
Quickly convert a real business requirement into a solvable modeling problem.
Use economic thinking and scientifically rigorous methods (including but not limited to causal inference methods, economic modelling, experimentation) to facilitate decision making related to product functions, recommendation & search algorithm strategies, operations, and other business strategies.
Develop a systematic framework to causally evaluate the impact of various policies and strategies;
Predict the long-term impact of policies and strategies;
Increase the impact of business actions by identifying & understanding key mechanisms;
Optimize traffic/cost (e.g. marketing expense) allocation;
Improve the ecosystem of TikTok ecommerce, including but not limited to seller growth, product supply, content supply, governance, and user growth.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree or above in economics, statistics, Operations Research, finance, quantitative marketing, or related field;
Proven track record in research and solutions to business problems leveraging techniques from economics or related disciplines;
Coding ability in a scripting language such as R, and/or Python, SQL with strong writing and presenting skills;
Experience in communicating scientific approaches and findings to business leaders and deliver successful scientific solutions;
More than 3 years of data analysis experience; experience in a large tech company is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong writing and presenting skills;
Demonstrable experience in any of the following areas of applied economics: reduced-form causal analysis, predictive modeling and causal ML algorithms, forecasting, labor economics, health economics, education economics, behavioral economics, financial economics, industrial organization.
