Job Purpose
Operate the Operations Control Centre (OCC) by performing Train Service Controller duties across Train Control, Station Control, and Depot Control, assisting the Chief Controller with service regulation, coordination with station and depot staff, and safe track access management.
Responsibilities
Train Service Controller (Train Control)
Manage OCC main functions: train service regulation, incident handling, information dissemination, and track access management.
Regulate revenue train service to ensure safe and reliable operation in accordance with operating procedures.
Perform safely during routine and emergency situations.
Monitor train timetable, ensure on‐time running, coordinate connections, and set routes appropriately.
Communicate clearly with duty staff and passengers, providing instructions as required.
Report all train faults to the Chief Controller immediately.
Control track access during traffic hours safely.
Manage incidents: provide accurate information, coordinate with ground staff, recover partial service, minimize passenger delay, and restore normal timetables promptly.
Train Service Controller (Station Control)
Disseminate accurate information to station staff and passengers via PA, radio, urgent mail, and group dissemination systems during delays or disruptions.
Respond to queries from other operational staff.
Process track access during non‐traffic hours safely and verify applications to maximize maintenance windows.
Ensure all work parties are cleared from track before traffic hours.
Track and monitor station openings, flashing light reminders, and urgent fault reporting.
Train Service Controller (Depot Control)
Oversee daily depot operations, including morning preparation of revenue service trains.
Dispatch passenger and engineering trains to reception tracks for mainline launch.
Handle withdrawal of trains from mainline to depot and dispatch spare trains upon instruction.
Coordinate with Depot Operations Centre for train wash schedules and stable positioning.
Assist shunting trains into workshops for maintenance and manage track access requests with proper protection (e.g., SPKS).
Report faults to the Chief Controller immediately.
Qualifications & Work Experience
Diploma in any discipline, preferably with an engineering background or related qualifications.
More than 3 years of railway experience.
Skills
Ability to work under stressful conditions and make sound, safe decisions during incidents.
Proficient and confident use of computer systems.
