Faculty Position for Visiting Associate Professor in Digital Filmmaking (Directing, Cinematography, Sound Design).
The School of Art Design Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) invites applications for a 1-year appointment as Visiting Associate Professor in Digital Filmmaking (Directing, Cinematography, Sound Design), with potential contract renewal.
Located in Singapore, ADM offers interdisciplinary studio-based education in the applied arts, fostering artistic excellence and creative leadership.

Suitable candidates should have a deep understanding of directing, writing, editing, sound design, or cinematography in digital filmmaking, and be able to advise students from concept to final production.
Significant experience in cinematic narrative aspects, including sound recording, ADR, Foley, sound mixing, sound engineering, camera work, visual composition, directing actors, and emerging technologies is required.
Experience in sound design and directing for game and interactive media is a plus.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in film production, directing, editing, cinematography, and sound design for film and animation, supervise final year projects, and contribute to curriculum development.
They should also bring international visibility through scholarly or creative work and participate in service duties such as committee work and course coordination.
Applicants should demonstrate:
Extensive experience in film directing, including working with actors, visual storytelling, camera staging, shot composition, sound design, cinematography, and interdepartmental collaboration.
A strong teaching record in directing at the tertiary level, supported by technical skills, critical frameworks, and conceptual understanding, with expertise in cinematography and sound design.
Knowledge of current technologies and tools used in directing, sound design, cinematography, and digital film production, including AI technologies.
Ability to oversee student thesis projects from concept to post-production, with a focus on directing and advising on cinematography and sound design.
A passion for guiding students in exploring creative and technical possibilities beyond current practices.
Additional experience in directing, cinematography, or sound design for animation, games, and interactive media is advantageous but not essential.
Responsibilities include delivering up to two courses per semester, supervising thesis projects, conducting sound design workshops, advising on curricular development, and providing technical expertise on teaching technologies and facilities management.
Candidates should hold a terminal degree (MFA, PhD, or Practice PhD) in related fields or equivalent professional experience.
A strong teaching record and substantial industry experience, especially in notable international film or television projects, are preferred.
