The role of a Workday Tester and Data Analyst combines responsibilities from two important functions: testing the Workday system (during implementation or post-go-live changes) and analyzing the data within Workday to support business decisions, ensure data quality, and improve system performance.
Test Planning & Strategy:
Understand business and functional requirements.
Define the scope and types of testing: Unit Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, UAT, and Regression Testing.
Test Case Development:
Write detailed test cases based on Workday configurations and business processes.
Create test scripts for specific Workday modules (e.g., HCM, Payroll, Finance).
Test Execution:
Execute test cases manually or using automation tools (e.g., Workday Test Automation, Kainos Smart).
Validate business processes, integrations, security roles, reports, and data loads.
Defect Management:
Log, track, and retest defects using tools like JIRA or ALM.
Work with developers and functional consultants to resolve issues.
Regression Testing:
Conduct testing during Workday releases (e.g., R1, R2 updates) to ensure new updates don't break existing functionality.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain test plans, scripts, and logs.
Report testing progress and metrics to project stakeholders.
