Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Commissioning Leadership & Oversight
    Serve as the Commissioning Team Leader, assuming full responsibility for the planning, coordination, and execution of all commissioning activities across project phases.

Lead multidisciplinary commissioning teams to ensure safe, systematic, and efficient project completion in alignment with approved design, operational, and safety standards.

  • Operations Readiness & Transition Planning
    Develop comprehensive Operations Readiness Plans (ORP) for both FEED and EPIC phases, ensuring all elements of operational readiness—people, processes, systems, and assets—are addressed and validated.

Obtain necessary management approvals for ORP deliverables, ensuring alignment with corporate strategic objectives, asset operations philosophy, and lifecycle management frameworks.

Facilitate integration between project delivery teams and end users to ensure seamless handover and transition to steady-state operations.

  • Design & Documentation Review
    Conduct detailed reviews of project documentation, design deliverables, and Project Execution Plans (PEP) to verify completeness, operability, maintainability, and compliance with commissioning requirements.

Identify and highlight design or procedural deficiencies that may impact commissioning or startup, and propose practical solutions for resolution.

  • Commissioning Management & Contractor Oversight
    Review, validate, and monitor all commissioning-related deliverables prepared by EPIC contractors, including work breakdown structures, task prioritization, manpower and resource allocations, and detailed commissioning schedules.

Provide technical direction and approval for project-specific commissioning plans, systemization philosophies, pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures, and associated handover documentation such as PSSR (Pre-Startup Safety Review) checklists.

Ensure that commissioning activities are properly integrated with project construction and operations milestones.

  • Interface Coordination & Issue Resolution
    Coordinate, liaise, and maintain close collaboration with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Operations, HSE, Quality, Maintenance) and external stakeholders (Contractors, Vendors, Consultants) to resolve complex site and technical issues.

Review and approve Technical Queries (TQs), Site Queries (SQs), and field change proposals, ensuring technical integrity, compliance, and minimal impact to project schedule and cost.

  • Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) & Site Integration
    Participate proactively in SIMOPS and construction activities within live operating facilities, maintaining a strong understanding of operational constraints and end-user requirements.

Identify potential operational conflicts, assess and mitigate risks associated with simultaneous operations, and coordinate Permit to Work (PTW) processes, temporary tie-ins, and site facilities setup.

Ensure safety and operability are not compromised during construction, commissioning, or early operations in brownfield environments.

  • Performance Assurance & Continuous Improvement
    Oversee execution of commissioning activities to ensure adherence to project KPIs, commissioning quality standards, and regulatory compliance.

Drive lessons learned, best practice sharing, and continuous improvement across project commissioning activities.

Ensure systematic documentation and traceability for all commissioning, handover, and operational readiness activities.

  • People Development & Nationalization
    Actively participate in and contribute to development and mentorship programs, facilitating knowledge transfer and capability building among engineers and technicians.

Support the development of competency frameworks, training materials, and practical learning opportunities aligned with corporate development goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree Discipline preferably Chemical / Process / Mechanical Engineering.

    Chartered Engineer status or equivalent is preferable.

  • Minimum of 15 years experience in design, construction, commissioning and start-up of oil & gas processing and production facilities (Onshore/Offshore), preferably with EPIC contracting companies of which a minimum eight (8) years Commissioning Coordinator/Team Leader.

  • Experience in operations, -commissioning, commissioning, start up and Hand-over activities.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills

  • Relevant technical expertise.

    Multi-discipline engineering exposure with trouble-shooting and problem solving skills.

Good IT and analytical skills
